Season steaks with salt and pepper and set aside.
Cook tomatoes, 1 Tbsp olive oil, and garlic until tomatoes are soft and begin to give off their juice. Add oregano and fresh basil (or parsley) and simmer.
In a separate pan, heat remaining 1 Tbsp olive oil and saute steak to the desired stage of doneness.
Spread the tomato sauce over steaks, cover the pan and heat for about 3 minutes longer. Serve immediately.
